Bartonella is the most common bacterial infection contributing to encephalitis in children. However, it is often not tested for causing many children and families to suffer without proper diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Wells will review the pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, signs and symptoms, diagnostic testing, and botanical treatment for Bartonella in the pediatric population. This lecture will highlight the importance of ruling out Bartonella in pediatric chronic illnesses and provide the clinical tools needed to successfully address this infection in the pediatric population.
